This blog was designed to document part of the history of the refugee camp located in Frankfurt/Oder, Germany, specifically the time period in which the Volga Germans of Russia made this their home. In the 1920’s, this refugee camp was the home for thousands of Volga Germans escaping from civil war in their Russian homeland. These people stayed here, mostly in transit, waiting for arrangements to be made so they could continue on with their journey – to reunite with family in North or South America.I set this up in order to share with the public the research material I was able to collect, as well as encourage those with similar material, to also share what they have.
We invite you to contribute to the success of this blog…by sharing your stories, photos and old documents.
